French-born explorer and naturalist Adelbert von Chamisso accompanied Otto von Kozobue on his oceanic voyage of 1816. Chamisso compiled an inventory of many plant and animal species in the San Francisco Bay Area, and to this day, Chamisso’s Gesammelte Werke (Gathered Works) is esteemed for its distinctive record of Californian natural history. The Chamisso room is a corner room that overlooks the Manor’s orchard and pond. Filled with lush golds and browns, the room is sunny and bright and features unique Moroccan lamps.
