Beethoven

Otto’s father, August von Kotzebue, was approached by Ludwig van Beethoven in 1812 to write the libretto for an opera about Attila the Hun. While this plan never materialized, Beethoven did produce music for two of Kotzebue’s plays, The Ruins of Athens (opus 113) and King Stephen (opus 117). Evocative of a nineteenth-century study, the room includes a freestanding wrought iron fireplace, original wood beams, rich leather upholstery, and an unusual antique armoire.
